CEO: Uniper keeps plans to sell Unipro despite snags

MOSCOW, Aug 17 (PRIME) -- Uniper has kept its plans to sell assets of Russia's Unipro despite problems with the sale, CEO Klaus-Dieter Maubach said on Wednesday.

"Concerning assets in Russia, you already know that we started the process of sale last year… I can confirm that we are sticking with the plan. However, in this situation, it is not easy to fulfill the deal. We will now have to wait and see what we can do, how we can move this issue ahead," Maubach said.

On August 5, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree forbidding deals with shares in Russia's strategic companies and their affiliates owned by entities in the non-friendly states until the end of 2022. Finland's Fortum and Unipro accepted binding offers to sell Russian assets earlier in 2022 and were to finish the process on June 21.
